This decade has been excellent to be a fan of video games and animation. A few months ago we had the second season of Arcane and now Netflix also brings the second season of Castlevania Nocturne.
If you don’t remember, in the last episodes of the first season, Castlevania Nocturne introduced Juste Belmont. If you have never played any installment of the saga, and even if you have, you may not have recognized it, but in fact he starred in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, a game originally released for the GameBoy Advance. Here we tell you everything about its history.
Juste Belmont, as you can imagine, is a member of the long Belmont dynasty, the family has the duty of defeating Dracula and protecting Transylvania from darkness. Juste is the grandson of Simon Belmont, the protagonist of the first Castlevania game.
Juste is reserved and very loyal to his two closest friends: Maxim and Lydia. However, during the game’s plot, Maxim betrays him, wanting to prove that he is stronger than Belmont. To do so, he gathers Dracula’s remains and, in the process, ends up possessed by the vampire. Depending on your actions in the game, Maxim’s fate could change.
Castlevania Nocturne, however, takes certain liberties with the source material. To begin with, Juste is an old man, contrary to how we saw him in Harmony of Dissonance. And although in both versions he is Richter’s ancestor, in the anime it is specified that he is his grandfather and, therefore, Julia’s father.

What is Castlevania Nocturne about and where to watch it?
Castlevania Nocturne is an anime adaptation of the famous Konami video game. Spin-off of the 2017 version, Nocturne is set during the French Revolution and follows Richter Belmont and his adoptive sister Maria Renard in their fight against the vampire queen. The anime takes inspiration for its plot from the games Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
The first season came out on September 28, 2023, while the second premiered only on January 16. Both seasons have 8 episodes each and both Castlevania Nocturne and Castlevania are available on Netflix.
