In the summer it seemed very clear that Moh Salah would not renew with Liverpool and would leave the red club at the end of this season. It was taken for granted and it seemed that this goodbye would be peaceful… but it will not be like that.

After the victory against Southampton, the Egyptian striker went out to the mixed zone, something he rarely does to talk about his “disappointment” with Liverpool: “We are almost in December and I have not received any renewal offer from the club” , and add: “I’m probably more out than in.”

These words have greatly bothered former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher, who wore the ‘red’ shirt for 16 years and is now a television commentator. “If he continues to make comments or his agent continues to publish cryptic tweets, that is selfishness. That is thinking about themselves and not the club,” said the former central defender.

Much distance in negotiations

Furthermore, Carragher claims to know why the Anfield club has not made a firm offer to the Egyptian to continue next season: “The reason why Liverpool have not offered him a contract yet is because Mo Salah will reject it “They are still in talks, I am desperate for them to reach an agreement.”

What the sports commentator does now recognize is that the positions are distanced: “Just as Salah and his agent value themselves in terms of contract duration, so does Liverpool.”

What does seem clear is that if Salah does not continue at Liverpool for the 2025-26 season, the Egyptian will have no problems finding a destination with a large contract. And as reported by the British press, the Anfield team would have rejected almost 180 million euros in 2023 from Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia for the forward.
