Car Drowns in Sarlahi Pond

Sarlahi: A car plunged into a pond in Sarlahi district on Tuesday morning, leaving two people feared dead.

The ill-fated vehicle, a Lu 2 Cha 6758, was traveling from Bayalbas to Gaushala when it veered off the road and submerged in a pond at Ishworpur Municipality-2, Miyankhor.

Three individuals were inside the car at the time of the accident: 37-year-old Suresh Mahato of Gaushala Municipality-10, 37-year-old Ramakant Thakur of Sonama Rural Municipality-8, and 31-year-old Janak Yadav of Gaushala-2. While Yadav managed to escape by swimming, Mahato and Thakur are still missing.

A police team, along with a diving team from the Armed Police Force’s No. 2 Chinnamasta Bahini, has been deployed to search for the missing individuals.

Residents reported that the car lost control and fell into the pond adjacent to Saraswati Higher Secondary School.

Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
