Nepali viewers are facing a blackout of popular Indian television channels, including Star, Zee, Sony, and Colors. The service disruption is attributed to a financial dispute between channel broadcasters and distributors in Nepal.
The issue has been compounded by the Nepal Rastra Bank’s limitations on foreign exchange facilities, hindering the timely payment for broadcasting services. This is not the first time such a disruption has occurred, with internet services facing similar challenges in the past.
Service providers have sent out notifications to customers informing them about the service interruption. Subisu, a leading internet and television service provider, has issued a statement acknowledging the issue and assuring customers of their efforts to restore the channels as soon as possible.
