Bracing For Cyclone

Almost two weeks have gone by since the monsoon withdrew from Nepal but the country is now staring at another unusual climatic event. The cyclone in the Bay of Bengal is going to have an impact on the weather pattern in Nepal from Wednesday evening. Even though the cyclone may weaken when moving inland, it can have a negative effect on the region due to the possibility of rain, landslides, floods, and other weather-related problems. Since rainfall is expected in several provinces starting from Thursday, the government and local authorities must take the required actions right now. As a mountainous country, it means that any precipitation can become a great danger to some areas in the country due to the nature of the area, poor urbanisation and rivers filled with water due to rainfall. It is especially true for the regions in the hills, Chure and the Tarai, since flash floods, landslides and waterlogging are likely to occur there. Additionally, in the high Himalayas, there is a risk of heavy snowfall, snowstorms, and avalanches.
