A devastating incident occurred today at the under-construction Bhotekoshi hydropower project in Sindhupalchok district, Nepal. A slope collapse near the dam tragically buried two workers.
Santosh Khadka, Superintendent of Police for Sindhupalchok, confirmed the accident. He reported that a sudden landslide on the approach path to the dam resulted in the collapse, injuring 10 people. Rescue efforts are currently underway to locate and evacuate the buried workers.
The 10 injured individuals are receiving treatment at the nearby Bahrabishye primary health center. Authorities are preparing to transfer those with critical injuries to medical facilities in Dhulikhel or Kathmandu for further treatment.
This incident highlights the potential dangers associated with construction projects, particularly those involving large-scale excavations. The cause of the slope failure remains under investigation.
