Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday (November 1) flagged off the Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Express, introducing a new overnight rail service connecting two of the country’s major economic centres.

The new service will connect Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT), Bengaluru, with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai, passing through important stations in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

Highlighting the significance of the service, Mr. Vaishnaw said that the train would connect Bengaluru, India’s IT and start-up capital, with Mumbai, the country’s financial capital. It is expected to benefit professionals, entrepreneurs, students, traders, business travellers and tourists.
