Australia Clinch Close Victory

Australia emerged victorious against Bangladesh in a rain-shortened encounter of the ICC T20 World Cup Super Eight stage. The win puts them level on points with India, who won their previous Super Eight match against Afghanistan by 47 runs.

Bangladesh, after losing the toss, opted to bat first and managed 140 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing a target of 141, Australia’s innings was disrupted by rain after 11.2 overs. At that stage, they had reached 100 runs for the loss of only 2 wickets.

With persistent rain preventing further play, the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method was employed to determine the winner. Based on the DLS calculation, Australia were declared victors by a margin of 28 runs.
