Hyderabad, India โ In a major boost to India’s technology landscape, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced plans to significantly expand its footprint in Hyderabad. The e-commerce giant will establish a new hyperscale data center in the city, specifically geared towards powering AI and machine learning applications.
Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, successfully wooed Amazon executives during a recent visit to California, securing a commitment for substantial investments in the state. The minister emphasized Telangana’s conducive business environment and offered comprehensive support to facilitate AWS’s growth plans.
Hyderabad has already emerged as a strategic hub for AWS, with three operational data centers contributing to the region’s robust cloud infrastructure. The upcoming hyperscale facility will further solidify the city’s position as a leading data center destination in India.
Kerry Person, Vice President of AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, highlighting Hyderabad’s role in supporting AWS’s India growth strategy. The new data center is expected to accelerate the adoption of AI and cloud technologies across the country, driving India’s ambition to become a trillion-dollar digital economy.
With Amazon’s deep-rooted presence in Telangana, including its largest corporate building globally and the recently launched Amazon Air cargo network, the state is poised to benefit immensely from this expansion. The increased investment will create new job opportunities, foster innovation, and contribute to the overall economic development of the region.
