BJP leader L. Murugan, who recently resigned from his Rajya Sabha membership and as a Union Minister of State, on Thursday (October 29, 2026) rejected allegations made against him in certain sections of the media. “These statements are baseless, absolutely fabricated, malicious, and are politically motivated with the sole intent to malign my hard-earned reputation and create unnecessary confusion among the general public to give certain colours to my resignation,” he said.
In a statement, Mr. Murugan said certain unwanted and derogatory statements had been made and circulated through various media platforms by those “unable to accept my present role to improve the party cadres at all levels.” The purpose of his resignation was “only to work for the cadres at the grassroots level to enable the party to face the 2029 Lok Sabha elections,” he said. All other allegations and unwanted propaganda spread by certain people with political motives and malicious intent were far from the truth, he said.
