The assistant enhanced by Artificial Intelligence of Amazon, Alexa, is having technical difficulties in its development. Since 2024, the company has been working to make an extensive remodeling to its line of virtual assistants, adding functions that will allow it to solve practical problems and even get generative capabilities, such as other similar applications.
However, these plans do not seem to be going as planned. A recent report revealed that the new Alexa presents problems with “hallucinations”, a term used to describe the creation of incongruous material or with logic errors. Rohit Prasad, responsible for leading the development of artificial intelligence at Amazon, explained that hallucinations must be almost non -existent before they even consider launching this update to the market. “It is an open problem in the AI industry, but we are working very hard to solve it,” he added.
He also explained that they have had to face problems with latency (response time) and the consistency of their operation without finding errors. Several former worders of the company admitted that the project presented an unexpected challenge due to the relatively simple and limited “Alexa Original”, compared to the new functions they have tried to implement.
Prasad stressed that it is vital that this new Alexa works at high speeds without sacrificing functionality, since, to achieve the objective of the remodeling project, the assistant must be able to communicate with hundreds of software and third -party services in seconds. The Amazon team is expected to solve these difficulties. If so, it is possible that this new generation of Alexa is launched to the public in mid -2025.
